The main objective of the MSCA COFUND 2026 call is to co-finance new or existing PhD programmes, as well as programmes for the incorporation of research staff at national, regional or international level. Through these actions, the aim is to promote the best practices of MSCAs, including training in international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary research, as well as to encourage transnational and sectoral mobility of researchers at all stages of their career.

MSCA Staff Exchanges 2026

MSCA staff exchanges promote innovative international, cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration in research and innovation through staff exchange and the sharing of knowledge and ideas at all stages of the innovation chain.

The scheme fosters a shared culture of research and innovation that celebrates and rewards creativity and entrepreneurship and helps to turn ideas into innovative products, services or processes.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026

Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding researchers with a maximum of [number] years of research experience. 8 years in the Making after their doctorate, that they carry out international mobility (not having resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the beneficiary entity (or of the partner entity for the exit phase in Global Fellowships) during more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the closing date of the call for proposals). Applications must be submitted jointly by the researcher and a beneficiary entity from the academic or non-academic sector.

Postdoctoral Fellowships can be carried out in Europe (i.e., in an EU Member State or in a Horizon Europe Associated Country) or in a Third Country not associated with Horizon Europe:

- European Postdoctoral FellowshipsThese grants are open to researchers of any nationality who wish to participate in R&D projects, whether coming to Europe from anywhere in the world or relocating within Europe. The standard duration of these grants is between 12 and 24 months.

- Global Postdoctoral Fellowships: These fellowships are open to European nationals or long-term residents who wish to participate in R&D&I projects with organizations outside the EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries. These fellowships require an initial period abroad of a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 24 months in a non-associated third country, and a mandatory 12-month return period to a host organization located in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country.

MSCA Doctoral Networks 2026

The MSCA Doctoral Networks will implement doctoral programs developed by consortia of universities, research institutions and scientific infrastructures, businesses—including SMEs—and other socioeconomic actors from various countries in Europe and beyond. These networks are open to the participation of organizations from third countries, with the aim of fostering international strategic alliances for the training and exchange of researchers.

The doctoral programs will address clearly identified needs in various research and innovation fields, exposing researchers to both the academic and non-academic sectors. They will also offer training in research-related skills and key transversal competencies for innovation and long-term employability, such as entrepreneurship, commercialization of results, intellectual property rights management, and scientific communication. Doctoral network proposals may be based on existing or planned research collaborations among participating organizations.

This call is open to fund high-risk, interdisciplinary research projects with the potential for transformative impact in science and technology. It supports visionary ideas in their early stages that can lead to radical breakthroughs, fostering the exploration of new scientific and technological concepts without a defined immediate application. Funding is available for fundamental research activities that combine multiple disciplines and innovative approaches. EIT Health – Calls 2026 (Innovation Validation & NMDH)

EIT Health has launched two calls for proposals aimed at accelerating innovation in digital health and care models:

- Innovation Validation: supports AI-based digital medical technologies with an IML 6 maturity level, geared towards clinical validation, evidence generation and preparation for commercialization.

- New Models to Deliver Healthcare (NMDH)It focuses on mature solutions (IML 8-9) for implementation and scaling in real healthcare systems using value-based care models.

Both calls for proposals fund up to 50% of the budget, with a maximum of €850.00 (Innovation Validation) and €700.000 (NMDH) per project. Participation by industrial entities and a collaborative, patient-centered approach are required.

Networking Support Scheme (NSS)

Ongoing call for proposals to fund international networking events on rare diseases and rare cancers. The program supports up to €30.000 per event, aimed at strengthening research networks, promoting knowledge exchange, and encouraging the participation of underrepresented countries (UCs).

You can apply to researchers, clinicians, research managers, and patient organizations. Each event must include participants from at least three eligible countries and must have at least one applicant from a UC country.

The application period is open continuously until 2029, with semi-annual evaluations.

IHI Call 12 – Driving innovation for a competitive European health ecosystem

This is a single-phase call for proposals, aligned with the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) and based on an applicant-led approach. Projects must address unmet public health needs through ambitious, cross-sectoral public-private partnerships with a clear impact on society, the economy, and science. As with other IHI calls, at least 45% of the budget must be covered by in-kind contributions from industry. The final call themes are detailed below:

Be Ready – European Partnership for Pandemic Preparedness (pre-announcement)

The European Partnership for Pandemic Preparedness – BE READY has launched its first Joint Transnational Call (JTC 2026) for multinational, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research projects focused on improving knowledge of the pandemic potential of emerging pathogens, understanding the pathophysiology they induce, and developing innovative medical countermeasures. This initiative, coordinated by the Call Secretariat in Germany, is part of the European strategy to strengthen the research and preparedness ecosystem for health crises, integrating a One Health approach and transnational cooperation.

The Global Health EDCTP3 joint venture has published its 2026 Work Programme, which makes up to €147 million available to fund research and innovation projects in global health, with a particular focus on infectious diseases affecting sub-Saharan Africa and other regions. In addition, there are two Coordination and Support Action (CSA) themes:

EU4HEALTH

The European Commission has launched a new call for the designation of EU Reference Laboratories (EURLs) in public health, as part of its efforts to strengthen surveillance and response to health threats. The calls cover four priority areas:

- Clostridioides difficult

- Sexually transmitted bacteria

- Mycobacteria 

- Invasive bacterial infections

These laboratories will provide technical support to Member States in diagnostics, testing methods and harmonization of epidemiological surveillance.

The applications are addressed to EU/EEA public health laboratories.

XIII EDCTP Forum on Clinical Trials and Global Health

The 13th EDCTP Forum will be held from April 5 to 9, 2027, at the IFEMA Municipal Palace (Madrid), coordinated by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) and the CSAI Foundation. This biennial forum is one of the leading international gatherings for global health research, focusing on infectious diseases that particularly affect sub-Saharan Africa. The event will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and R&D partners from Europe and Africa, and will feature scientific sessions, workshops, poster presentations, and networking activities. Approximately 1.500 attendees are expected.

Understanding Cancer in the Digital Age: Data, Innovation and Equity

EUHPP Webinar – 2026 Calls for Public Health Reference Laboratories

The European Commission, through the EU Health Policy Platform (EUHPP), will organize an informative webinar on the 2026 calls for EU Reference Laboratories in public health on April 29, 2026 (15:00-16:30 CEST).

The event is aimed at public health microbiology laboratories in the EU/EEA interested in applying. During the session, representatives from the European Commission and the ECDC will provide an overview of the call for proposals, as well as guidance on the application process.

The program will include technical presentations and a question and answer session to address any doubts from potential applicants.

The webinar will be held online (Webex) and will be recorded.

XIII CDTI Conference: “Between two Programs, Horizon Europe” (Barcelona)

The CDTI is organizing the thirteenth edition of the Conference of the European Union's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP) in Spain, under the motto “Between two programs, Horizon EuropeThe event will take place on June 16 at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya (Barcelona). It is being held in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the European Commission, and Acciò. As in previous editions, there will be an opportunity to receive asesoramiento personalized on Horizon Europe and agreements can also be reached meetings with other attendees to promote collaboration.

Additionally, during the Conference a poster exhibition of projects coordinated by Spanish entities that have obtained funding from Horizon Europe.

Conference on European Research Infrastructures in the field of health

The ISCIII organizes this annual event to highlight the important role of European Research Infrastructures (RIs) in health sciences research and innovation. Throughout the day, discussions will cover topics of great interest, such as the contribution of RIs to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), the strategic value of RIs for industry, the challenges and opportunities in collaborating with technological infrastructures, and how to address the One Health challenge through RIs.
