EBRAINS CALL

In the scope of the EBRAINS 2.0 project, a set of four open calls were opened on June, that aim to integrate new data and workflows into EBRAINS.
This integration will enhance existing tools and thus foster innovation and collaboration, equal opportunities and ultimately accelerate progress in the field of neuroscience and brain health.
Additionally, workflows, models, and simulations developed within the consortium will be tested and validated by external partners to strengthen use cases and scientific excellence.

CERIC-ERIC

Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium (CERIC-ERIC) offers access through a single entry point to more than 60 scientific facilities (including the Joint Research Center Nanobiotechnology Laboratory and Next Generation Sequencing at the Laboratory for Genomics and Epigenomics (LAGE)) distributed in 11 countries, through the submission of proposals. Currently, there is an open call to send access requests with Closing date for pre-proposals: September 2, 2024.

HORIZON EUROPE – MSCA POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS 2024

HORIZON-MSCA-2024-PF-01-01 : Fellowships will be provided to excellent researchers undertaking international mobility. Applications will be made jointly by the researcher and a beneficiary in the academic or non-academic sector.
Postdoctoral Fellowships either can take place in Europe (ie in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country) or in a Third Country not associated to Horizon Europe:
  • European Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to researchers of any nationality who wish to engage in R&I projects by either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe. The standard duration of these fellowships must be between 12 and 24 months.
  • Global Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to European nationals or long-term residents[1] who wish to engage in R&I projects with organizations outside EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries. These fellowships require an outgoing phase of minimum 12 and maximum 24 months in a non-associated Third Country, and a mandatory 12-month return phase to a host organization based in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country.

HORIZON EUROPE – ERC PROOF OF CONCEPT GRANT
 
ERC-2024-POC: The ERC Proof of Concept Grants aim at facilitating exploration of the commercial and social innovation potential of ERC funded research and are therefore available only to Principal Investigators whose proposals draw substantially on their ERC funded research.
The financial contribution will be awarded as a lump sum of EUR 150 000 for a period of 18 months.

IHI: Innovative Health Initiative – Call 8

La Innovative Health Initiatives (IHI) has launched its 8th call for proposals targeting cardiovascular diseases, osteoarthritis, regulatory testing environments and patient-centred endpoints. The call is structured in two phases with the following topics:

EUROPE HORIZON – ERC STARTING GRANT 2025

ERC-2025-STG: This call is intended for talented researchers who are at the beginning of their research career and who have carried out excellent supervised work, are prepared to work independently and have the potential to become a research leader.

the summons starting grant is open to researchers of any nationality with 2 to 7 years of experience since completion of your PhD, with a very promising scientific track record and an excellent research proposal.

Initial grants of up to 1,5 million of euros for a period of five years. In addition, it will be possible to have an additional million euros to cover the start-up costs of research staff moving from a third country to the EU or an associated country and/or for the purchase of important equipment and/or for access to large facilities and/or for field work.

EUROPE HORIZON – EIC PATHFINDER CHALLENGES

The overall objective of the EIC Pathfinder for advanced research is to develop the scientific basis to underpin breakthrough technologies. It provides support for the earliest stages of scientific, technological or deep-tech research and development. Pathfinder projects aim to build on new, cutting-edge directions in science and technology to disrupt a field and a market or create new opportunities by realizing innovative technological solutions.
 
EIC Pathfinder Challenges supports coherent portfolios of projects within predefined thematic areas with the aim to achieve specific objectives for each Challenge. Grants of up to EUR 4 million or more if duly justified.

COST – OPEN CALL: A SIMPLE ONE-STEP APPLICATION PROCESS

Participants are invited to submit COST Action proposals contributing to the scientific, technological, economic, cultural or societal advancement knowledge and development of Europe. Multi- and interdisciplinary proposals are encouraged.

The Open Call Action proposal submission, evaluation, selection and approval (SESA) procedure is fully science and technology-driven and will ensure a simple, transparent and competitive proposal evaluation and selection process, reflecting the bottom-up, open and inclusive principles of COST .

Participants planning to submit a proposal for a COST Action will need to refer to the SESA guidelines and to the Open Call Announcement available on the Documents and Guidelines page.

HORIZON EUROPE – ERC SYNERGY GRANT 2025

ERC-2025-SyG: This call is open to a group of two to four Principal Investigators (PIs)) to jointly tackle ambitious research problems that could not be addressed by individual PIs and their teams working alone.

There are no specific eligibility criteria regarding academic background for PIs on Synergy Grant teams. PIs may be early in their research career and present a track record of early achievements or senior and present a ten-year track record, whichever is most appropriate for the stage of the research career of each PI participating in the Synergy group.

Proposals will be evaluated on the sole basis of scientific excellence which, in the case of ERC Synergy Grants, takes on the additional meaning of remarkable intrinsic synergistic effect.

The Synergy Grant can reach a maximum of 10 millones de euros for a period of 6 years. In addition, you can request 4 million additional euros to cover the start-up costs of researchers moving from a third country to the EU or an associated country and/or for the purchase of major equipment and/or access to large facilities.

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH IN COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE (CRCNS)

The State Research Agency (AEI) participates as a funding agency in the call for proposals on Computational Neuroscience “Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience” (CRCNS) launched by the American research agency, National Science Foundation (NSF), within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the NSF and the AEI. In addition to the AEI and the American research funding agencies NSF, National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Department of Energy (DOE), funding agencies from France, Germany, Israel and Japan are also participating. Until now, the AEI has funded Spanish researchers in bilateral consortiums with American researchers. This year, for the first time, the AEI will allow its researchers to participate in multilateral research projects that have an American coordinator. 

The AEI will finance with up to €250.000 the Spanish part of the bilateral or multilateral projects submitted to the CRCNS 2025 competition, which will close on November 13, 2024. Only one Spanish participant will be accepted per proposal funded by the AEI (see announcement of the call for proposals). this article).

  • HORIZON-MSCA-2024-DN-01-01: MSCA Doctoral Networks will implement doctoral programmes, by partnerships of universities, research institutions and research infrastructures, businesses including SMEs, and other socio-economic actors from different countries across Europe and beyond. MSCA Doctoral Networks are indeed open to the participation of organizations from third countries, in view of fostering strategic international partnerships for the training and exchange of researchers.

EP PerMed is organizing a symposium on the ELSA of personalized medicine on 26 September 2024 in Brussels, Belgium. The event will be held in a hybrid format. Registration is now open.

The EP PerMed Symposium on Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects of Personalized Medicine aims to address the main ethical challenges in personalized medicine research in order to raise awareness and train researchers by addressing ELSA issues in personalized medicine from a macro approach (ethics of new technologies) to a specific approach (ethics, legal issues, privacy issues and artificial intelligence (AI) in personalized medicine).

Due to limited space on site, the event will take place in a hybrid format.
