The ERC's grants operate on a 'bottom-up' basis seeking an Excellence Science.
Who can apply? Active researchers who have a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years.
Consolidator Grants may be awarded up to €2,5 million for a period of 5 years.
The aim of the Joint Call is to initiate sustainable and multilateral research cooperation between researchers from Europe, Latin-America and the Caribbean countries. Transnational consortia are invited to submit proposals related to six topics in the thematic fields of Global Challenges, Health, Biodiversity, and Energy. One of the specificities is the inclusion of four topics based on sharing large Research Infrastructures. Projects will be funded for up to 36 months.
You should apply to this call if you are looking for support from EIC Pathfinder Open to realize an ambitious vision for radically new technology, with potential to create new markets and/or to address global challenges. EIC Pathfinder Open supports early stage development of such future technologies (eg various activities at low Technology Readiness Levels 1-4), based on high-risk/high-gain science-towards-technology breakthrough research (including 'deep-tech'). This research must provide the foundations of the technology you are envisioning.
The ERC Proof of Concept Grants aim to maximize the value of the excellent research that the ERC funds, by further funding work (ie activities which were not scheduled to be funded by the original ERC frontier research grant) to verify the innovation potential of ideas emerging from ERC funded projects. Proof of Concept Grants are therefore on offer only to Principal Investigators whose proposals draw substantially on their ERC funded research.
