The First Meeting of Aragonese Associations involved in women's health focused on the need to make their work and also the diseases that women suffer visible. They assured that there are gender-specific ailments and others that affect in a different way that must be known and known how to treat.
Promote and improve women's health at all stages of life and share this common objective with non-professional associations. With this objective, yesterday in Zaragoza the I Meeting of Aragonese Associations, a forum organized by the Association of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Aragon. Its president, Laura Baquedano, assured that “it is about coming to a friendly forum to give visibility to the selfless work of these organizations that dedicate time and effort to women's health.”
The associations dedicated to specific diseases of women were the first to participate in the event. Adaez, Aecc, Amac Gema and Asaco explained their activity and their support to Aragonese women. Soledad Bolea, vice president of Asaco, highlighted the need to publicize ovarian cancer, “cancer is a disease that is kept secret and ovarian cancer much more so, people are embarrassed to say it,” in addition, she highlighted the need to “research to alleviate all these diseases that directly affect women”
Later it was the turn of Alba Supervía, Asafa Zaragoza and Pamyc, in the space dedicated to how women suffer from certain diseases. Asunción Cisneros, from the Aragonese program Mujer y Corazón, highlighted the importance of “informing what the symptoms of a heart attack are in women, since they go to the emergency room late due to lack of knowledge and it is very important to act as soon as possible”, in addition, she wanted to emphasize the “ importance of continuing to work so that doctors know how to act in a timely manner when they encounter a case of heart attack in women.”
The third event brought Araprem, Estelar, Lactaria and Vía Láctea, associations related to motherhood, to the stage. Gloria Andrés, from Estelar, insisted at this meeting on asking medical professionals to “take advantage of the consultations to publicize the associations, so that people know that we exist.”
Amnoxer, Amasol and Faga also participated. Carmen Dual Clavería, social mediator and member of the board of the Federation of Gypsy Associations of Aragon, received the first round of applause by highlighting that the most important bodies of her federation are held by women. On the other hand, she wanted to draw attention to the need to dispel taboos regarding gypsy women and health, explaining that, “Gypsy women arrive virgins at marriage, so they do not perform gynecological examinations until they become pregnant. For this reason, it is essential to inform them that there are other types of tests that can be performed to prevent diseases."
