29 May 2026XIII Gilead Biomedical Research Fellowship Call 2026
1 June, 2026“Let’s Leave Cancer Off the Menu” and “The Solidarity Gilda” kick off today with nearly 50 participating bars and restaurants, the collaboration of Martín Martín, and two special showcookings at La Zarola.
Cancer isn't usually discussed at a bar. Nor on a restaurant menu. Not even while sharing a pintxo, a vermouth, or a healthy dish. But TheMoveMen wants to change that.
The national association dedicated to raising awareness of male cancer is launching today a new edition of “Let's Leave Cancer Off the Menu” and “The Solidarity Gilda”, two actions that during the month of June will turn the hospitality industry of Zaragoza into a great loudspeaker for prevention, health, research and social conversation.
This year's campaign includes the participation of nearly 50 bars, restaurants, hotels, taverns and gastronomic spaces, in addition to the collaboration of Martín Martín, which adds its 85 establishments to the action by selling solidarity gildas and donating 10% of the sales of its gildas to TheMoveMen.
"A city, a bar, a gilda. And a conversation that can save lives."
A city that cooks up prevention
With “Let’s Leave Cancer Off the Menu,” participating establishments are adding healthy dishes or menus related to the campaign. The goal is to send a clear message: eating out can also be compatible with taking care of yourself.
The initiative is supported by IBIONS, the Biomedical Institute of Nutrition and Health, which provides nutritional and scientific expertise. TheMoveMen promotes a diet based on ingredients such as vegetables, legumes, fruits, fish, nuts, seeds, and extra virgin olive oil, while reducing the consumption of ultra-processed foods, added sugars, refined grains, and unhealthy preparations.
It's not about banning. It's about making better choices.
It's not about scaring people. It's about prevention.
It's not about taking life out of the letter. It's about taking cancer out of it.
The Gilda Solidarity: a small cover for a huge conversation
Alongside the gastronomic campaign, “La Gilda Solidaria” also returns, an action that turns one of the most popular tapas into a symbol of support for research, prevention and visibility of male cancer.
Each participating establishment will offer its own solidarity gilda and donate a portion of the proceeds to TheMoveMen. In addition, Martín Martín, the main collaborator of this initiative, is joining with its 85 establishments, which will sell solidarity gildas and donate 10% of sales to the association.
"A gilda doesn't change the world. But a whole city talking about cancer while sharing a gilda can start to move things forward."
June: the month to talk about prostate cancer
The campaign takes place during the month of June, coinciding with June 11, International Prostate Cancer Day, a key date for TheMoveMen.
The association points out that prostate cancer is one of the most common tumors in men, yet it remains shrouded in silence, shame, and a lack of public discussion. That's why TheMoveMen works to break taboos, promote prevention, encourage early diagnosis, and support patients and their families.
There are diseases that not only need treatment.
They also need language, conversation, and places where they can name them without fear.
Two showcooking events at La Zarola: mental health, business, and cooking with purpose.
As part of the campaign, TheMoveMen will also hold two special showcookings at La Zarola, a collaborating space of the initiative.
The first event will have a particularly human and social focus, with the participation of users of ASAPME, an Aragonese mental health association. It will be a gathering to combine cooking, emotional well-being, food, and conversation, reminding everyone that health is not only physical: it is also mental, social, and relational.
The second showcooking event will be aimed at company executives, with the goal of involving the business community in the prevention of male cancer and in the promotion of healthy habits inside and outside the workplace.
With these two actions, TheMoveMen wants to send a broad message: prevention doesn't belong solely to the healthcare system. It also belongs to civil society, businesses, the hospitality industry, culture, and all the spaces where life happens.
A campaign with a Zaragoza flavor and a national vocation
TheMoveMen highlights the involvement of the nearly 50 participating establishments and Martín Martín, who during the coming weeks will become allies of a cause that seeks to bring male cancer out of silence.
The campaign can be followed through TheMoveMen's official channels, where information will be shared about participating establishments, gastronomic offerings, solidarity pintxos, and special actions related to the month of June.
