Obesity rates are stabilizing in rich countries but increasing in developing countries.

Researchers from the GENUD group (Unizar, IISAragón, IA2 and CIBERobn) have participated in a macro international study, published by Nature, with data from 232 million people in 200 territories since 1980.

The Mediterranean diet may act as a protective factor against the genetic risk of obesity in European preadolescents.

This is demonstrated by a study led by the GENUD group (IIS Aragón and the University of Zaragoza), which has just been published in the journal Pediatric Obesity with an analysis of 2000 participants, between 2 and 16 years old, over three different years.

Aspanoa invests 120.000 euros to promote new immunotherapies for childhood cancer.

It will be distributed equally between two research projects. One is led by Diego Sánchez (IIS Aragón) and the other by Eva Gálvez (CSIC) and Ramón Hurtado (BIFI – Unizar). Immunotherapy is a treatment already being applied to some cancer patients, including children, when standard therapies are insufficient.

A new experimental drug improves motor function and prolongs life in an ALS model.

The MP-010 molecule, developed by Miramoon Pharma, acts on ryanodine receptors, opening a new therapeutic avenue for treating ALS, according to a study led by researchers from CIBERNED and several research institutes, including the IIS Aragón.

Women receive different pharmacological treatment than men after a myocardial infarction.

The research, conducted by the Aragon Health Services Research Group (GRISSA), involved nearly 4000 people who survived a first acute myocardial infarction. Researchers from the IIS Aragón and the University of Zaragoza participated in the study.

The 10 chapters of “ConoceRte” are now available, an innovative Aragonese podcast on youth mental health

Thanks to the coordination of the IIS Aragón, this project is part of the Research Group on Digital Communication and Information (GICID) of UNIZAR, in collaboration with ASAPME Aragón and sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, with the aim of making mental health treatment in young people and adolescents visible and normalizing. All chapters are now available on Spotify.

Zaragoza bids farewell to 'Medicine 2044': the international congress organised by the IIS Aragón

The Auditorium of the University of Zaragoza hosted the world-renowned scientific event on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 January, with more than 500 attendees. Ángel Lanas, scientific director of the IIS Aragón, described the congress as 'spectacular'.
