A project to study why people are getting sick is launching in Zaragoza.

The IIS Aragón is coordinating the project in the city, which will follow 4.000 people for 20 years to improve personalized and preventive medicine. The study is part of the IMPaCT Cohort, a national program promoted by the Carlos III Health Institute.

Neurodegenerative diseases: the virus-brain connection

Researchers Isidoro Martínez González and Salvador Resino García, both from the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), have published an article where scientific evidence links the presence of certain viruses with diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and ALS.

The IIS Aragón leads a pioneering project, worth more than one million euros, to regenerate organs before a transplant

The project, in collaboration with the Zaragoza-based company EBERS Medical, seeks to regenerate livers and kidneys before transplanting them. This initiative includes the creation of a new unit for immunodeficient pigs at the Biomedical Research Centre of Aragon (CIBA) to accelerate the transfer of new technologies and therapies to patients.
