Description
Comprehensive Cancer Centers (CCCs) are at the forefront of cancer research, treatment, and education. Their multidisciplinary approach ensures that patients benefit from the latest scientific advances, from early detection to innovative treatments and aftercare. The creation of the European Comprehensive Cancer Centers (EUCCC) network represents a harmonized and integrated approach to cancer care across the continent. This initiative is based on the principles of excellence and collaboration.
In Aragon, the Aragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragon) participates in this project as a beneficiary of the funding within the framework of a collaborative project led by the Department of Health of the Government of Aragon, a key player in the planning and coordination of health policies in the region.
Aragon has opted for a network model that fosters collaboration among institutions, professionals, and patients, thereby strengthening the healthcare system's responsiveness. This collaboration reinforces Aragon's commitment to excellence in cancer care and translational research, while also highlighting the value of adopting a network model that integrates resources, knowledge, and experience in a coordinated manner. Thanks to this vision, innovation in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment is guaranteed to have a real impact on the health of patients in Aragon and contribute to scientific progress internationally.
Objectives and Results
The primary objective of the EU CCC network is to create a cohesive and integrated consortium of CCCs across Europe to ensure that all patients, regardless of where they live, have access to high-quality care. This network will also serve as a collaborative platform, enabling centers to share best practices, resources, and knowledge. Such collaboration is essential to promote research, integrate the latest findings into clinical practice, and ensure that patients benefit from the most effective treatments available. The network will facilitate the adoption of quality diagnostic and treatment methods, including training, research, and clinical trials across the EU.
EUnetCCC will contribute to:
- reduce inequalities in diagnosis, treatment and care, as well as in access to clinical trials;
- strengthen the quality of outcomes research;
- to integrate clinical care and research, and to evaluate the quality of cancer care as a whole.
This European collaboration will improve patients' access to quality diagnostics, care, and innovative treatments.
