15 April 2024Last Wednesday, the Miguel Servet Hospital held one of the sessions of the “The Protagonist Patient” program, developed together with the IIS Aragón, dedicated to the Hematology and Oncology Units.
On April 10, a new session of "The Protagonist Patient" took place with a dialogue table in which professionals and patient associations participated to address how to improve the experience of patients with hematological and oncological diseases.
During the day it became special Emphasizing the improvements the hospital has made over the years, both at the level of new processes such as haploidentical bone marrow transplantation; as well as at the level of improvement of care, such as the creation of a nursing consultation specialized in resolving doubts of oncology patients (in person and by telephone); or the creation of a new pharmacy practice that will focus on serving these patients.
This hospital, throughout 2023, served 15.571 oncohematological patients, that is, an average of 42 patients per day in the Day Hospitals of both services. To properly care for these patients, about 145 consultations a day are provided in these services, in addition to the involvement of many other areas and services of the hospital.
Regarding points for improvement, the comfort and convenience of patients during their stay in the hospital and also that of their families stood out. Suggestions included improving the dining, toilet and rest areas for families..
These sessions are possible thanks to the project collaborators: Fundación la Caixa, Mémora & Fundación Mémora. And to the sponsors of the day Roche Farma Spain, GSK, Amgen Spain, AstraZeneca, Sanofi, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Spain, Lilly Spain and Pfizer.
