October 30, 2024On Thursday, October 24, the IIS Aragón, the Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital and Nestlé Health Science presented the tool that allows health professionals to check the compatibility of medication for patients with nutritional administration by gastrostomy or nasogastric tube.
The presentation of the 'FarmaSonda App' took place on Thursday, October 24, in the context of the scientific conference 'Applied Technology in Clinical Nutrition', organized by Nestlé Health Science. This innovative project, developed by the Dysphagia Subcommittee of the Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital and Aragón Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón), aims to improve care for patients who require nutritional administration via gastrostomy or nasogastric tube.
The 'FarmaSonda App' offers to health professionals the possibility of consulting if the prescribed medication is suitable for these nutrition methods y how to supply it properly in each case. This tool is particularly useful for ensuring that patients receive an appropriate medication regimen based on their type of nutritional administration.
The event featured experts such as Julia Ocon, head of nutrition section; Vicky Villaverde, deputy medical director; and Eva Lopez Hernandez, coordinator of the clinical research unit of the IIS Aragón. In addition, three relevant clinical cases were presented: "The malnourished patient with dysphagia" by Rosana Urdaniz from the endocrinology service; "The neurological patient with a nutrition tube", presented by Carlos Tejero, head of the neurology section; and "Pharmacological interactions in the patient with a probe", by Maria Angeles Allende from the pharmacy service.
