15 June, 2023The Affective-Effective Forum awards the Aragon Health Research Institute for the program “Protagonist Patient” which takes place at the Miguel Servet University Hospital in Zaragoza. The award was presented on Tuesday, June 13 at the ninth edition of this Forum, held in Madrid, to the deputy director of Participation and Citizenship Management of HUMS, Carmen Sánchez Roldán, and to the Executive Director of the Aragón Health Research Institute, Óscar López Lorente, for the implementation of this program, which consists of a series of monthly work groups composed of Medicine, Nursing professionals and patient associations where demands from all those involved are identified and prioritized for improvement in the care process.
The Affective-Effective Award has different categories and the Zaragoza initiative has been distinguished in which it encompasses “Awareness-raising and/or prevention and/or intervention initiatives aimed at patients and/or family members.” This program, coordinated by the subdirectorate of Participation and Citizenship with the IIS Foundation, has had the participation of health professionals and patient associations and has been carried out on a monthly basis.

Each month, a different pathology is addressed in a space for dialogue in which all the groups involved in these pathologies participate. Since its launch in January 2022, they have participated 132 HUMS and Primary Care professionals from the Zaragoza II Sector (medical, nursing, social work professionals, researchers, etc.) 64 patient associations, 19 sponsors from the pharmaceutical and technological industry and the collaboration of the Mémora Foundation and the La Caixa Foundation that accompany the entire project. Thanks to the work of all these entities, the project has managed to carry out more than 56 improvement projects within the hospital, focused on different areas (improving information, providing training for professionals and patients, humanizing spaces, improving satisfaction, etc)
The model Affective-Effective tries to highlight the way of caring for and curing the patient as a person., based on scientific evidence, incorporating the dimension of the patient's dignity and humanity, establishing care based on trust and empathy, and contributing to their well-being and the best possible health results. The Afectivo Efectivo Awards have once again broken a new participation record in their IX edition, once again exceeding the previous participation figures with 663 projects registered and 427 projects accepted.
