Aragon will implement a digital application in 30 schools to detect eating disorders
11 June, 2026As Director of the Institute, I am pleased to announce that at the Board meeting on May 27, the proposal for the new Scientific Sub-Directorates of the IIS Aragón was presented: Dr. Yolanda Gilaberte will assume the Clinical Scientific Sub-Directorate, while Dr. Patricia Sancho will be responsible for the new Preclinical Scientific Sub-Directorate.
La Dr. Yolanda Gilaberte She is Head of the Dermatology Department at the Miguel Servet University Hospital, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, researcher at the Aragón Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón), and a leading figure in Spanish dermatology. Her career combines excellence in patient care, clinical leadership, and translational research, with extensive experience in competitive projects, clinical trials, and knowledge generation aimed at improving healthcare.
La Dr. Patricia Sancho She is an internationally renowned researcher in the field of cancer biology and translational medicine. Her scientific career, developed at leading national and international research centers, has positioned her among the most prominent researchers in her area, with extensive experience in scientific leadership, securing competitive funding, and knowledge transfer.
The Clinical Scientific Sub-Directorate faces, among other things, the challenge of facilitating the integration of research in health centers, as well as the development of the research career in the Aragonese health system.
The Preclinical Scientific Sub-Directorate is one of the organizational changes of this phase. It responds to the evolution experienced by the Institute in recent years and the need to strengthen the representation and participation of basic and preclinical research in the scientific governing bodies.
The growth of the IIS Aragón, the increasing complexity of biomedical research and the importance of translational medicine make it necessary to continue strengthening the integration between basic, clinical and technological research, ensuring that all the sensitivities and scientific realities of the Institute have a direct voice in decision-making.
I am convinced that the addition of Yolanda Gilaberte and Patricia Sancho will be a very valuable contribution to continue promoting scientific excellence, collaboration between groups and the strategic development of the IIS Aragón.
I would like to conclude by expressing my recognition and gratitude to the previous Scientific Directorate, led by Doctors Ángel Lanas and Luis Pablo. For over a decade, they have made a decisive contribution to building a solid, prestigious, and renowned institute, both within and beyond Aragon. The new directorate assumes the responsibility of this new phase with respect for that legacy, and with enthusiasm, ambition, and a commitment to continue strengthening a collective scientific project with enormous future potential.
Daniel Oros Lopez
Scientific Director
IIS Aragon.
