María Moros, researcher at the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA) - a joint center of the University of Zaragoza and CSIC - has received the Innovation Award from the Association of Directors and Executives of Aragon (ADEA). The awards ceremony was held during the XI ADEA Directors' Convention, which in this edition was focused on young people and their personal future.
The award recognizes the scientific career of María Moros, who leads a research project based on nanoparticles for biomedical applications called SIROCCO. This project is supported by a Starting Grant from the European Research Council of almost 2 million euros. SIROCCO's main objective is the development of tools based on magnetic nanoparticles, which allow studying the ability of cells to detect external mechanical stimuli and transform them into biochemical signals. A greater understanding of these mechanisms and the possibility of manipulating them externally can be very useful in increasing the speed of tissue regeneration. In addition, María Moros has been selected in 2020 by an international committee to be part of the Young Academy in Spain.
The Association of Directors and Executives of Aragon aims, with these awards, to recognize the work of professionals whose task and responsibility is carried out in a company based in Aragon.
