November 23, 2023The IIS Aragón has delivered its annual research grants whose main objective is to promote research at all levels, both for people who are starting out in research and for emerging and consolidated groups.
The CIBA assembly hall hosted this Tuesday, November 21, 2023, the Research and Innovation Conference of the Aragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón), one of the most important annual events for the Institute.
On the occasion of the publication of the “Intramural Call for the Promotion of Research of the IIS Aragón 2023”, an initiative aimed at supporting researchers and research groups of the IIS Aragón, they have been presented in this important act of the aid to the most prominent consolidated, emerging and associated groups, as well as aid from mobility for resident researchers and predoctoral researchers, aid for hiring of faculty to train in research, you help research communication actions and help healthcare innovation actions.
The event was attended by José Luis Bancalero Flores, Minister of Health of the Government of Aragon; Rosa Bolea Bailó, vice-rector for Scientific Policy of the University of Zaragoza and Ángel Lanas, scientific director of the Aragón Health Research Institute; responsible for inaugurating this day.
“Almost €500.000 have been distributed today to 21 researchers from the house, thus enhancing the research capacity of the groups. As every year, our main objective with these grants is to promote research at all levels, both for people who are starting out in research, as well as for emerging and consolidated groups,” highlighted Ángel Lanas. Furthermore, he wanted to note that “this day marks the return of researchers from the overheads that we obtain from the projects, investing a large part of this income in the research of the most active groups.”
After the inauguration of these days, two presentations were given with some luxury guests: Pedro Baptista, ARAID researcher at the IIS Aragón, to talk about 'Organ Bioengineering. The Future of Transplant Medicine', and Valentín Ortín-Maldonado, from Hematology and Hemotherapy at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona with an interesting intervention on the 'Academic development and hospital manufacturing of CAR-T therapies: the new reality in patient treatment'.
