Health managers and innovation experts from nine institutions throughout Spain met yesterday and today in the Auditorium of the University of Zaragoza to analyze and debate how to introduce innovation in public procurement processes.
They have done so at the II Congress of Public Procurement of Innovation in Health organized by the Aragonese Institute of Health Sciences IACS, in collaboration with the University of Zaragoza, within the framework of the IACS Chair of CPI in Health. During the congress, the awards for the first edition of the Amparo Poch Award were presented, which went to the Lozano Blesa Clinical Hospital, the Galician Health Service and the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital.
The Manager of the University of Zaragoza, Alberto Gil; The Director of the IACS Chair of CPI in Health, Gerardo García-Álvarez, and the Managing Director of the IACS, Sandra García, were in charge of closing the congress, which was held over two days.
Tables, practical workshops and examples of cases tendered in Spain
The meeting began this Thursday with a table on fundamental aspects related to health innovation, which sought to answer questions about what innovation is, what it means to put this procedure into practice, and what possibilities for national and European financing exist. .
The afternoon continued with a practical workshop in which various methodologies were presented to generate ideas to respond to the needs detected in public procurement processes.
On the second day of the congress, today, Friday, the keys to the preparation of specifications and key points in the execution have been reviewed, and three tendered cases in Spain have been presented that have resulted from the association between entities and companies to develop innovative projects.
Three institutions awarded the 1st Amparo Poch Prize
The congress concluded with the presentation of the 1st Amparo Poch Award, convened by the IACS Chair of CPI in Health with the aim of recognizing projects and initiatives that have recognized the public purchase of innovation to improve health services.
The smart laundry service of the Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital, and the association for innovation in Code 100, of the Galician Health Service (Sergas), have been recognized with the Award for Best Public Purchase of Innovation in Health.
Sergas has obtained a second award with the health innovation plan Code 100, award for the Best Initiative for Public Procurement of Innovation in Health, while the platform for the improvement of public procurement of innovation (PiPPi) of the Vall d'University Hospital 'Hebron has been recognized with a second prize in this category.
