José Antonio Casajús, professor in the Area of Physical and Sports Education of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Zaragoza, is the president. of this initiative in Spain, whose working group is made up of experts in different scientific fields, which makes it a multidisciplinary group with extensive experience in research activity.
The University of Zaragoza is one of the 156 universities worldwide that has obtained the Gold Medal "Exercise is Medicine" for their efforts in creating a healthy university and for the commitment of the Aragonese campus to make movement part of the daily culture and promote daily physical activity among its students and provide them with the necessary tools to strengthen healthy habits that can last a lifetime . Only 73 of them have achieved the gold medal, an incentive for faculty, staff and students to work together to improve the health and well-being of the university community.
The Gold Medal has been awarded consecutively for the different initiatives that have been carried out for years on the Aragonese campus thanks to the collaboration that exists between the Occupational Risk Prevention Unit, the Sports Activities Service and Exercise is Medicine-Spain, led by the professor José Antonio Casajús, president of Exercise is Medicine-Spain and Rubén López, doctor of Health and Sports Sciences from the University of Zaragoza, point of contact for the different actions between the institution and Exercise is Medicine-Spain. The UPRL is the service in charge of assessing the physical activity of Administration and Services Personnel and Teaching and Research Personnel to, through the SAD, propose more active and healthy lifestyle programs based on the characteristics of the subjects.
