The mental health of 46% of Spaniards is at risk due to the coronavirus crisis, according to an international study led by a company derived from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), in which 10.551 people have been interviewed in Spain, Italy and United Kingdom.
The work also reveals that 6 out of 10 Spaniards have at some point felt sad, depressed or desperate for the future during this epidemic and almost 60% see it as necessary for the government to focus not only on preventing contagion, but also on avoiding an economic crisis, according to a statement from the UOC.
The research, in which researchers from the universities of Milan, Trento, Glasgow, Tillburg and the National University of Colombia have collaborated, has been carried out for three consecutive weeks, between April 24 and May 17, with the objective to evaluate the behavioral changes of the population linked to stress and trauma in the context of the pandemic.
