Multiple sclerosis is a chronic and neurodegenerative disease whose evolution varies greatly from one patient to another. What is the same, in all cases, is the importance of the ongoing rehabilitation programs, essential to maintain, in the best possible conditions, the functionality and autonomy of people who suffer from this disease.
Aware of this importance, from the Aragonese Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis (Fadema) have launched the project 'Acquiring capabilities for personal autonomy', an initiative that has been selected by the 'la Caixa' Foundation within the Interculturality and Social Action projects.
The association insists that since it is a chronic disease, the public health system does not address this type of treatment which, in turn, "are essential to maintain and/or improve the capacities of the affected person and their quality of life. They are necessary interventions that, having to be consolidated over time, are very costly. Without private initiative, its development would be impossible."says Tejada.
For the entity, the help of 'la Caixa' "has been fundamental to being able to carry out this project, which has our participation and the users' co-payment".
