Monsoon has turned pink this Sunday, October 29, with the celebration of the seventh edition of the Women's Race in which 950 residents of the capital of Mediocinqueña and the region participated, mostly, but also residents of neighboring towns such as Barbastro or Binéfar. All of them wearing the pink t-shirt symbol of the fight against breast cancer, whose international day was celebrated on October 19.
The participants have traveled a 4 kilometer urban circuit with departure and arrival at Paseo San Juan Bosco, which were very lively. The local champion Cristina Espejo has been the first to cross the line finish line 13 minutes after starting, followed by Martina Laplana and Alegría Vargas. The organization, the Ciudad de Monzón Women's Race association, has also awarded prizes to the oldest participant, the woman from Barbados. Pilar Cavero, 96 years old, and the youngest, Martina Cintilla, 10 years old.
Donation for cancer studies
Thanks to the contribution of the brokers and collaborating companies, the 13.000 Euros for the cancer study that will be delivered to the Aragón Health Research Institute and also 950 euros (1 euro for each participant) for the onegé SUMUN, founded by Estrella Lalueza from Montisonné to help Ivory Coast.
One of the organizers Beatriz Sanchis gave a “very positive” assessment of the test since participation has increased by 200 runners last year, which has also allowed us to increase the donation by almost 2.000 euros for oncological studies. “The race has been very lively and it has been a pink party in the street. Lots of participation and institutional support. “We are very happy and we can only hope that next year the race continues to grow,” says Beatriz Sanchis, satisfied.
Women's Race City of Monzón emerged in 2015 and it has been reissued every year with the exception of 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
