October 28, 2024Nearly a thousand participants ran this Sunday in the VIII edition of the charity event that donated the money raised to the Molecular Oncology group of the Institute
La VIII Monzón Women's Race, held this Sunday morning, through the streets of the city of Cinca, brought together 930 participants who with their solidarity participation raised 14.000 euros for the Aragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón) and 930 for Caritas. The podium was for Martina Laplana, Nuria Sierra and Andrea Barranco.
The Monzón Women's Race Association had marked a circuit of about 4 kilometers with the final purpose solidary to raise funds for cancer research on a morning in which participants enjoyed a photocall, zumba, entertainment by Sonus Venti and the Gaiteros de Monzón.
The organization recognized the Monzón City Council, Civil Protection and Red Cross for their collaboration in the annual event.

We have shown, once again, that Monzón is a city that is supportive and committed to cancer research and, on this occasion, 14.000 euros have been raised so that the Aragon Health Research Institute can continue to do his great work.”

The participants ran or walked the race on a fun morning where hugs and gestures of complicity marked another edition of an initiative that has been consolidated in the month of October, on a date close to International Breast Cancer Day.
«High-precision missiles against the most malignant tumors»
The researcher Marta Baselga, who also ran the race, collected the cheque for 14.000 euros on behalf of the team he leads. Alberto Jimenez Schuhmacher within the group of Molecular Oncology (GIIS111).
The project "High-precision missiles against the most malignant tumors» is an ambitious research project that seeks to develop new solutions to diagnose and treat some of the most aggressive and complex types of cancer. The IIS Aragón team aims to create "missiles" that locate and attack tumor cells without damaging healthy tissue.
Molecular Oncology is a group multidisciplinary and combines a wide range of molecular biology techniques, experimental models, screenings and cell biology assays in its research with the aim of developing new diagnostic tools and new treatments.
