7 February, 2023XX Call for Health Research Grants from the Mutua Madrileña Foundation (2 actions)
8 February, 2023The researchers from the Aragón Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón) Rosa Magallón and Rocío Bayona participate in the sixth edition of the initiative '11F Showcases', which shows the work of female scientists in the windows of the most creative stores in the city on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which has been celebrated every February 11 since 2015 with the aim of breaking the barriers that women encounter in the scientific field.
From February 1 to 15, different establishments in the city become small dissemination spaces where you can learn about the careers of women linked to science. Rocío Bayona Ramon y Cajal, from the Molecular Oncology group of the IIS Aragón, stars in the window of the Guiro toy store, on Jorge Guillén Street, 23. For her part, the career of Rosa Magallón Botaya -coordinator of the Public health, chronicity, services program health and primary care of the IIS Aragón - is detailed in the 111 Quesos food store, located at number 59 Cortes de Aragón street.
This initiative is part of Made in Zaragoza, the creative economy network of Zaragoza Activa and the 11F initiative, and in it science and creativity go hand in hand with the double objective of achieving greater participation and progress of women and girls in the science, while supporting the most creative and innovative local businesses in the city. In order to see the shop windows, four routes have been created distributed in different parts of the city: the University Tour, which brings together 12 establishments; Historic Center Tour – El Gancho, with 25; Las Fuentes Tour, with 6; and that of Actur – Delicias, with the remaining 3.
Among the protagonist scientists, the Aragonese names stand out especially with the aim of showing or rediscovering references that are much closer than we think. Thus, you can find historical figures such as the botanist Blanca Catalán or the mathematician Andresa Casamayor De la Coma along with other current figures such as Eva Tejedor, researcher at CITA and CIAL; Raquel Villacampa, mathematician specialized in differential geometry; Rosa Monge, industrial engineer and co-founder of Beonchip; Manuela Delgado Cruz, industrial engineer responsible for projects at NTT-Data Zaragoza; or nurse Silvia Arroyo.
