30 July 2026The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) has published its Call 13, a new funding opportunity for collaborative health research and innovation projects within Horizon Europe. The call has a budget of €53,2 million provided by the IHI Joint Undertaking, supplemented by €31,6 million in contributions from industrial partners and other participating entities.
The HORIZON-JU-IHI-2026-13-two-stage call will fund Research and Innovation Actions (RIAs) and will be conducted through a two-stage evaluation procedure. In the first stage, applicant consortia submit an initial proposal, and subsequently, the selected consortium will work with the pre-defined industrial consortium for each topic to prepare the full proposal, which will be evaluated in the second stage.
The call for proposals includes the following topics:
- Topic 1. A network to boost the next wave of European innovations in healthcareThis topic aims to create a network that will drive the next generation of healthcare innovations in Europe. It also includes provisions for providing financial support to third parties (FSTP) through specific calls for proposals.
- Topic 2. An AI foundation toxicology model and framework to support waiving a second species in drug safety studies, focused on the development of artificial intelligence-based toxicology models that contribute to reducing the need for safety studies in a second animal species during drug development.
- Topic 3. Decode the immuno-science of age-related immune-mediated diseases, aimed at improving the knowledge of the immunological mechanisms involved in immune-mediated diseases associated with aging, with the aim of promoting the development of new preventive and therapeutic strategies.
IHI has published the materials and recordings from the IHI Call Days for Call 13, held from June 24 to 30, 2026. These resources include a dedicated session on each of the topics and a session dedicated to the rules and procedures applicable to the two-phase call.

Closure of the second phase: April 21, 2027, at 17:00 p.m.
