Placing the individual at the center of care is fundamental, not only from a clinical perspective but also in their daily care, emotional well-being, values, and how they experience the illness. Next Saturday, May 9The Paraninfo of the University of Zaragoza hosts the 1st Participatory Oncology Conference: Deciding Together. This meeting was created with the aim of establishing a shared space where patients, family members and professionals reflect together on how to move forward towards a more humane, participatory and person-centered careThe event is open to the general public. prior registration.
Driven by the Patient and Public Participation in Research (PPI) group within the European project 4D PICTURE (https://4dpicture.eu/), with the participation of researchers from the Aragon Institute for Engineering Research (I3A) at the University of Zaragoza. This conference highlights something fundamental: integrating the experience of patients and families to generate knowledge and innovation with real impactIt has the collaboration of the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Aragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragon).
Throughout the morning, from 9:30 a.m. to 13:45 p.m.In the Pilar Sinués room, key issues will be addressed such as the active role of the patient in their own health process, the importance of clear and accessible information, shared decision-making between patients and professionals, the value of accompaniment, association support and comprehensive care.
All of this in a dynamic and engaging format, where Dialogue, listening, and participation will be key.Organized around four round tables with 20 professionals, it is a meeting with the idea of feeling heard and understood, sharing real experiences, resolving important doubts and connecting with other people and support resources.
Program of the day
The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the presentation of the 4D PICTURE project, its context, main results and developed prototypes, highlighting the role of the patient within the project.
9:45-10:30 Table on What is shared decision-making?, its benefits and responsibilities, from the perspective of research, oncology and psychology.
10:30-11:15 The voice of the patient and their familiesA space focused on experiences of patient and family participation in research and citizen science projects.
11:15-11:45 Coffee break
11:45-12:30 Participation of cancer associations who will present their community work, support resources and how they support patients and families.
12:30-13:15 Table dedicated to habits and resources to improve health for cancer patients: nutrition, therapeutic exercise, emotional well-being, and social support.
13:15-13:45 Closing. Collection of ideas, reflections or lessons learned Key to the day. Final closing with project representatives and PPI members.
