August 6, 2026The European Research Council (ERC) will launch the ERC Synergy Grants 2027 call (ERC-2027-SyG), aimed at teams of 2 to 4 Principal Investigators (PIs) who want to jointly tackle ambitious scientific challenges that could not be solved by a single researcher or team working individually.
Proposals can be submitted in any area of knowledge and will be evaluated based on scientific excellence and the added value provided by collaboration between the principal investigators.
Teams can combine researchers at different stages of their scientific careers, and one of the principal investigators can be based at an institution in a third country. Researchers must dedicate at least 30% of their working time to the project and meet the commitment requirements set by the ERC.
Projects may receive up to 10 million euros for a maximum of 6 years, with the possibility of requesting up to an additional 4 million euros in certain justified circumstances.
Expected opening: February 17, 2027
Deadline: May 11, 2027, at 17:00 p.m. (Brussels time).
