Last November, the covid-19 pandemic gave the entire planet a new shock with the appearance of another variant of SARS-CoV-2. Omicron was here to stay, and massively infect much of the world.. This variant (B.1.1.529) of SARS-CoV-2 was much more contagious than its predecessor and predominant until that moment, delta. A study by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases of Japan, published in the medical journal BMJ (published in the United Kingdom), revealed that the peak of transmission of the omicron variant occurred between the third and sixth days after the appearance of symptoms, in the cases that do present them. Although it is the most transmitted, it is also the mildest variant of the virus among those identified to date. When months passed since the identification of the omicron variant, the researchers began to analyze the impact of a new subvariant. Thus, half of the cases registered in Denmark in January were positive for BA.2, which is currently already appearing in various parts of Spain. The BA.2 earned the nickname 'stealthy' or 'silent', since apparently It is undetectable to the simplest diagnostic tests, such as the antigen tests available to citizens in pharmacies.; PCR continues to be (as was the case with all previous variants) the most accurate test when it comes to detecting it.

Symptoms of the omicron and 'stealth' variants
