Symptoms of omicron, the new variant of covid that worries the world
1 December, 2021The Association of Parents of Oncological Children of Aragon has an interdisciplinary service for the treatment of sequelae of childhood cancer, which has the help of 'la Caixa0' Foundation.
Childhood cancer survival in Spain is now at 80%, which means that four out of five children are cured. Good news, but with nuances, since it is estimated that 70% of survivors will develop sequelae due to the oncological process they have suffered and the aggressive treatments they have received to combat the disease. Physical consequences (for example, balance problems), neuropsychological (memory loss, decreased attention span...), psychological, etc.
For this reason, the Association of Parents of Oncological Children of Aragon has a interdisciplinary service for the treatment of sequelae of childhood cancer, which is included in the call for Attention to the Diversity of 'la Caixa' Foundation.
"Last year, they benefited from this project 64 children with cancer and, indirectly, 81 relatives of the affected minor, especially their parents and siblings, who actively participate in the rehabilitation process so that on a day-to-day basis they can develop actions that contribute to it and not just stay in the sessions that are held weekly in Aspanoa," explain their responsible, who remember that to launch this project They have three professionals from Aspanoa (neuropsychologist, physiotherapist and music therapist) who are in charge of the different areas, neuropsychology, physiotherapy and music therapy.
And to develop this program they have with the support of 'la Caixa' Foundation, that lends them "a vital help to continue with this service which benefits our children so much. We are very proud that they have noticed our work," they say.
