El I Dissemination Cycle IIS Aragón, Health and Science Conferences, that brings citizens, patients and users of the Health System closer together, the health research carried out in Aragon continued with its programming this past Monday, October 16, with an interesting session about the work of nurses.
Under the title 'Nurses in science: projects and patients that inspire', The day highlighted four interesting projects that are being developed from Aragon and in which citizens are very involved being part of them.
Firstly, the patient and researcher at IIS Aragón, Luis Hijos Larraz presented the 'IMPACT Project, cohort study on precision medicine', a pioneering project at the national level, in which Aragón participates, which focuses on precision medicine and the application of science and technology to improve medical care.
The pilot study of the IMPaCT Cohort, which is carried out in four nodes of the Autonomous Communities of Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid, has already begun with the collection of information from the first participants contacted to take part, who have attended health centers authorized as IMPaCT centers. Thus begins the phase of citizen participation in this large cohort, whose ultimate objective is to carry out an exhaustive health study of 200 people representative of the Spanish population over the next 000 years to better understand the origin of the main diseases and thus help prevent them. Aragon participates in the IMPaCT Cohort through the Aragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragon), of the Department of Health and the Aragonese Health Service. The pilot study in this Autonomous Community, coordinated by Luis Hijós from the IIS Aragón, begins in Monzón rural node, which is made up of the aggregation of the Basic Health Zones of Barbastro, Binéfar, Monzón Urbano and Monzón Rural.
After the presentation of this project, Delia González de la Cuesta, nurse coordinator of the Nursing and Health Care research program and researcher at IIS Aragón, spoke about «Study of the needs of patients diagnosed with dementia and their family members or caregivers». In this sense, the broad classification of dementia that exists and the need to act with family members and caregivers was put on the table since, increasingly, their needs are increasing.
The studio “SAJOMA: evaluation of pre-surgical anxiety perceived in children and their parents through a non-pharmacological intervention”, at the nurse's hand Maria Alonso Esteban, was one of the presentations that aroused the most interest. This study, carried out through the IIS Aragón, within the nursing and health care research program, Safety and Care Group (SYC, together with the Royal and Provincial Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Gracia (Zaragoza).
Finally, the HUMS diabetes nurse educator and researcher at IIS Aragón, Elisa Civitani Monzón, presented the study ““Validation in Spanish of an instrument for measuring emotional health in children and adolescents diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus in Spain.”. An intervention that had great participation from the public since, among the attendees, there were many mothers with children with this pathology and the questions were broad.
Four very interesting projects that ended with a subsequent round table with different patients and in which there was also great participation from the audience.
The last session of this I Dissemination Cycle IIS Aragón, Health and Science Conferences It will be November 7 and will deal with the 'Society and research: Implication on the health of children. Can we do something during pregnancy and early childhood?'.
