30 June, 2023Today comes to an end III School of Cellular and Molecular Biology of Cancer, coordinated by Alberto Jiménez Schuhmacher, ARAID researcher at the IIS Aragón, with a very positive balance.
This important training is included within the Extraordinary Courses of the University of Zaragoza, which this year reaches its 96th edition, which organizes and sponsors the IIS Aragón and has counted with the collaboration of AstraZeneca. The third edition of this School of Cellular and Molecular Biology has offered a updated and organized view of the state of oncological research and its challenges in four large blocks.
Ahead, three intense days that have combined conferences and round tables clearly addressing the implications of the study of cancer genomes, the importance of the tumor microenvironment, new immunotherapies, cellular plasticity, cancer metabolism, the study of metastasis and the development of new drugs and diagnostic methods, among others. A complete training that has filled all its places, ensuring that all the students receive scholarships thanks to the collaborators.
This year, in addition, along with top-level professors in oncology research, a space professor was present, Sara García Alonso, a CNIO researcher and astronaut candidate at the Spanish Space Agency.

In recent years, a revolution has been taking place in cancer research that must urgently be translated into clinical practice. That is why this course offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students an updated and accessible view of the state of cancer research from basic research to medical practice. A unique opportunity to interact with some of the most important figures in cancer research in our country.
A quote that has also aroused a lot of interest among the media. On the one hand, Aragón TV did a report on the first day to get a closer look at Sara García's profile and which you can see in full on our linkedIn, Twitter, Instagram y Facebook. In addition, the scientific dissemination program of Aragón Radio Ágora has dedicated more than an hour to this important training and you can listen to it here
