The 'V ICT Health Conference', under the title «Cloud and data: catalysts for health optimization», organized by the Aragon Health Cluster (Arahealth) and the Aragon ICT Cluster (Tecnara), have had in one of their working groups the experience of GastricAITool.
The Technological Institute of Aragon ITAINNOVA and Aragón Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón) They have developed GastricAITool, a gastric cancer diagnosis and prognosis tool using Artificial Intelligence techniques and Big Data technologies. The purpose is to provide support to clinicians in making crucial decisions and facilitate more personalized strategies and follow-ups for patients.
The motivation for the project lies in the poor prognosis and incidence of gastric cancer, which ranks fifth as the most common cancer and the third cause of death from this disease. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a solution that allows early diagnosis of gastric cancer and prevents adverse prognoses, based on patient information.
Precisely, in this edition of the ICT Health conferences, the client's point of view has been highlighted in the IoT-based project management and data management. Within the program of this Wednesday, October 25, there has been a “Data” project table, moderated by APSER, Alex Casanovas, CEO, which included the projects "Gatekeeper", "Neofar" and "PRL Tech". In charge of this intervention has been Asunción García González, researcher at IIS Aragón and CIBERehd and one of the IPs of the GastricAITool project.
GastricAITool focuses on the application of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence techniques and tools to improve the health of citizens, specifically in the early detection of gastric cancer. The collaboration between the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Group of the Technological Institute of Aragon and the Translational Research Group in Digestive Pathology of the Health Research Institute of Aragon has been essential to achieve this significant advance.
The “GastricAITool. Early Diagnosis & Prevention of Gastric Cancer” (GastricAITool. Early diagnosis and prevention of gastric cancer, in Spanish), It was framed within the 2nd call of the European GATEKEEPER project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement number 857223.
GATEKEEPER's main objective is to create a platform that connects healthcare providers, businesses, entrepreneurs and senior citizens, in order to promote independent and healthy living in the aging population. Its focus is on applying advanced technologies to improve quality of life and efficiency in the delivery of health services in Europe.
