7 April 2026The session, which will be held this April 8 at the Ibercaja Foundation Patio de la Infanta, will focus on varicose veins and intermittent claudication.
The Ibercaja Foundation and the Aragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragon) celebrate this Tuesday April 8 the day “When your legs talk, listen to your circulation!”, an informative session focused on vascular health that is part of the cycle “Promoting Cardiovascular Health: Take Care of Yourself!”.
The activity will take place in Ibercaja Patio de la Infanta Foundation and will offer citizens accessible and rigorous information on two common pathologies related to circulation in the legs: varicose veins and intermittent claudication, Also known as “the disease of the showcase”.
The first intervention, under the title “Understanding varicose veins”, will be the responsibility of Dr. Abel Vélez LomanaDr. [Name], Head of Section of the Angiology and Vascular Surgery Service at the Lozano Blesa University Hospital in Zaragoza and researcher at the Aragon Health Research Institute, will give a presentation on varicose veins, explaining what they are, why they occur, and their main symptoms, including heaviness, pain, cramps, itching, and swelling. He will also discuss possible associated complications and treatment options, ranging from conservative measures to endovenous techniques or surgery, depending on the severity of each case.
The second talk “Intermittent claudication: the shop window disease”, will be taught by the Dr. Gabriel Inaraja PérezDr. [Name], a specialist in Angiology and Vascular Surgery at the Lozano Blesa University Hospital in Zaragoza and a researcher at the IIS Aragón. This presentation will analyze this condition, which manifests as pain or fatigue in the legs when walking due to insufficient blood flow and which improves with rest. In addition to explaining its causes, usually linked to atherosclerosis in the arteries of the legs, the presentation will focus on its relationship with overall cardiovascular risk and the importance of addressing risk factors.
The day will be moderated by the Dr. Miguel Ángel Guerrero Casedas, responsible for the Medical Service – Health Unit of Ibercaja.
