Biomedical Seminar: «Understanding the IL2/IL2R pathway in myeloid suppressor cells»

April 28, 2023 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 PM

El Aragon Health Research Institute in collaboration with University of Zaragoza They organize el Friday, April 28, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. el Biomedical Seminar: «Understanding the IL2/IL2R pathway in myeloid suppressor cells.».

Myeloid suppressor cells (MDSC) are immature cells present in cancer and chronic infections that downregulate the adaptive immune response. Based on this capacity, it has been hypothesized, in the field of organ transplantation (Tx) immunology, that the expansion and/or stimulation of the suppressive capacities of MDSCs could be tolerogenic. In our group, the longitudinal study of MDSCs in renal Tx recipients revealed that the increase in these cells in the post-Tx was not related to rejection or graft survival, but was significantly associated with the appearance Of cancer. On the other hand, the decrease in MDSC in patients who had received induction treatment with basiliximab (anti-CD25) suggested that CD25 (IL2 receptor α chain) was expressed in MDSC, an observation that prompted us to open a line of research to explore the significance of IL2Rα expression in MDSCs.
