Biomedical Seminar «Development of new strategies based on CAR-T cells for the treatment of solid tumors»

February 9, 2024 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

El Aragon Health Research Institute in collaboration with Master's Degree in Tumor Immunology and Cancer Immunotherapy (ITIC), Immunity, Cancer and Diseases of Infectious Origin or Molecular Basis Program and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zaragoza They organize on Friday, February 09, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. el Seminar Biomedic «Development of new strategies based on CAR-T cells for the treatment of solid tumors»

Seminar Summary:

Therapies based on T cells modified for the expression of a chimeric receptor (CAR-T) have shown incredible results in the treatment of hematological tumors. However, this success has not been translated into the treatment of solid tumors, where the responses have been much more discreet. This is due to the differences between both types of pathologies. In this sense, solid tumors present a series of physical, chemical and cellular barriers that must be overcome by T lymphocytes in order to perform their antitumor function. In this seminar, different strategies for the optimization of CAR-T cells will be shown. These new therapies have the ability to overcome the challenges presented by solid tumors and show greater antitumor activity.
