The Cajal Lesson, which began its journey in 2019, is set up as an annual meeting at the University of Zaragoza, which will bring together relevant academic figures in their field of knowledge, promoted by the Vice-Rectorate of Culture and Social Projectionl to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Santiago Ramón y Cajal's entry into this university, his 'venerated alma mater'.
The third edition will take place on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 19:00 p.m., It will be taught by Ángela Nieto Toledano, PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid, with the title 'De Cajal, embryos and cancer'
Angela Nieto Toledano (Autonomous University of Madrid) is one of the most prominent Spanish scientists. She has a doctorate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, she is a Research Professor at the Institute of Neurosciences (CSIC-UMH) in Alicante and a member of CIBERER; She is a full academician of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences (RAC), member of the Academia Europaea and foreign member of the Academies of Sciences of France and Latin America; she chairs the International Society Developmental Biologists (ISDB); She is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the CSIC and scientific delegate for Spain in the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL-EMBC Councils) since 2010 and Vice President of the EMBL Council. Among many others, she has received the Santiago Ramón y Cajal National Research Award (2019) and the L'Oréal-UNESCO International Award for Women in Science (2021).
