Continuing Training in Dermatology

Skin-related diseases are a frequent reason for consultation in primary care: 10% of all collaboration requests made to specialties with Virtual Interconsultation (practically all) in 2021 and 15% in 2022 according to healthcare data of the sector. It is known that numerous of the demands referred to the Dermatology Service can be assumed, both diagnosis and treatment by primary care professionals, and do not require specific intervention from the dermatologist.
Adequate training of primary care physicians for the assessment of the main dermatological lesions reduces referrals to specialized services, improving the efficiency of the system and the quality of care.

Objectives:

• Update and improve the knowledge and skills of family doctors by increasing their training in the solution of injuries acceptable at that level.
• Improve the quality of referrals that require intervention from the specialized service
• Improve the efficiency of the system, reducing the number of unnecessary consultations to the dermatology service, and reduce response times in patient care
