Course – Biomedical Information Search and Management

may 26

Healthcare systems have experienced a considerable increase in demand for research and specific solutions aimed at improving the quality of services. To provide quality care, given the rapid evolution of health knowledge (including new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures), healthcare professionals must possess the skills to locate the best available evidence and translate that knowledge into their clinical practice. Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) information sources aim to offer the most relevant and validated information for practical application. It is essential to be familiar with and proficient in using these sources. In their clinical work, clinicians ask questions to address specific situations concerning their patients and must know how to find the answers to make the most appropriate clinical decisions.

Furthermore, although the volume of scientific literature is growing enormously, the scientific quality of research articles is highly varied, which justifies the need for the development of skills and abilities leading to the search for quality scientific information.

This course aims to introduce participants to the best tools currently available for efficiently retrieving information, managing the most important international bibliographic databases in the health sciences, staying up-to-date, and accessing the full text of scientific literature. It seeks to provide high-quality, current training to improve skills, knowledge, and attitudes in searching for, retrieving, and managing scientific information.

(*) The course is aimed at healthcare personnel working in any of the specialized or primary healthcare centers of the SALUD and the Department, as well as members of research groups of the IIS Aragón.
