Course – Ethical Aspects in Research Projects with Human Participants

The Biomedical Research Act and the regulations governing research funding calls require that projects involving research with human subjects, the use of their personal data, or biological samples of human origin, not only comply with the requirements established in each case by current legislation, but also have the express authorization issued by a Research Ethics Committee (REC). This also applies to undergraduate, master's, and doctoral research projects in the health sciences.
In addition to the legal requirement, it is appropriate that researchers and those who act as tutors for those beginning their research activity be aware of and participate in the procedures aimed at carrying out good research practice and respecting the bioethical principles and commitments universally assumed by the scientific community.
In recent years, there has been a notable increase in the number of research projects evaluated by the Aragon Research Ethics Committee (CEICA). This increase in evaluation activity is largely due to the development of new undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degree programs, many of which are being developed by early-career researchers.
For all these reasons, the Aragonese Institute of Health Sciences (IACS) and CEICA have deemed it necessary to make a training effort aimed especially at new researchers on the ethical aspects that affect any type of research in humans.
(*) This course is aimed at Health professionals, and/or Researchers in the biomedical and health sciences field who carry out and/or design or participate in research projects with people, with their personal data or their biological samples.
Activity accredited by the Continuing Education Commission of Health Professions of Aragon with 4 credits.
