ONLINE BIOMEDICAL SEMINAR SERIES: Advances in lipid metabolism and cardiovascular disease (SESSION 3)

Today, cardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of death and morbidity in developed Western countries, accounting for approximately 50% of deaths in these nations. Several risk factors increase the likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease. These factors are divided into non-modifiable factors, such as age, sex, and genetic factors, and modifiable factors, which are of greater interest, such as high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia. The main objective of this course is to address the latest advances in lipid metabolism research and its relevance to the development of cardiovascular disease.
