The Official Gazette of Aragon publishes the resolution of the call for the grants from the Department of Employment, Science and University to finance with 6,9 millones de euros predoctoral contracts for the period 2024-2028.
A total of 65 researchers are going to join Aragonese universities and other centres and organisations in the Community's R&D ecosystem thanks to the line of aid that the Government of Aragon, through the Department of Employment, Science and Universities, is launching a program for the recruitment of research personnel in training.
These lines of financing allow the Incorporation of young people with outstanding academic records into research projects in Aragon, where they can develop their full potential to achieve their training as future researchers, in addition to the commitment to obtain a PhD at the end of the 4 years of the contract.
In this sense, the commitment and commitment of the Government of Aragon and the Ministry of Employment, Science and Universities to retain young talent with a scientific vocation and to support research groups in our community by strengthening their staff is evident.
Of the 65 new researchers joining the program, 54 will do so in research centres dependent on the University of Zaragoza, 7 will carry out their work in centres dependent on the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), 3 at the Aragon Health Research Institute (ISS Aragon), and 1 at the San Jorge University Foundation.
70% of the contracts correspond to STEM areas and specifically the distribution of predoctoral contracts by areas is as follows: Experimental sciences (16 researchers), Technology (13) Social sciences (12) Biomedical sciences (11) Humanities (8)and Agricultural sciences (6)
This regional programme currently has more than 250 researchers under contract, and represents the largest call for applications made by the Department each year. In addition, this call for applications includes mobility grants that finance research stays in international centres or foreign universities for predoctoral researchers to improve their training and research work.
