The four types of breast cancer
September 19, 2019It will be inaugurated on October 7 and will occupy the entire exhibition space of the center
The figure and legacy of Santiago Ramón y Cajal will star in the exhibition season at the Paraninfo Building in Zaragoza. All the rooms of the center, including the library, will be dedicated to showing the human and scientific career of the Aragonese researcher and his special relationship with the University of Zaragoza, which he called "my venerated alma mater." The exhibition, curated by the researchers José María Serrano Sanz and Alberto Jiménez Schuhmacher, is organized on the 150th anniversary of Cajal joining the University, and includes documents, books, drawings, photographs, sculptures, paintings and personal objects.
It is articulated in four spaces. The Goya room will be dedicated to showing the scientist's connection with Zaragoza (the city where he lived for 15 years) and his university. In the Saura room the visitor will be presented with a tour of the scientific and public activity of Cajal, in its multiple dimensions. The Africa Ibarra room, for its part, will offer a vision of his school, and the Joaquín Costa room will show the visitor the situation of neuroscience at the beginning of the XNUMXst century and the influence of Cajal that can still be detected in it. Finally, in the Library, first editions of Cajal's works will be shown to the public, along with other works that have dealt with the scientist.
Yolanda Polo, vice-rector for Culture and Social Projection, presented this Tuesday the cultural programming of the Paraninfo for the 2019-2020 academic year, in which the exhibition on Cajal is one of the highlights. After it, there will be samples dedicated to the work of Aragonese artists: María Pilar Burges, Enrique Larroy and Jorge Gay.
For their part, cycles such as La Buena Estrella will continue (the next event will be this Wednesday, when Gaizka Urresti and Pastora Vega will talk about 'Aute Portrait', the documentary about Aute. In addition, other thematic cycles will be held, such as the one dedicated to German cinema of the 21st century, which will take place in February and coincide with the Berlin Film Festival.
In the musical section, the fourth edition of the Perpendiculares cycle stands out, in which word and music merge on the stage of the Paraninfo patio. It will begin on Friday, September 20 with the Teruel poet Víctor Guiu and the young composer Lorién.
