The Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), as an organism dependent on the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, has published today the final resolution of the FORTALECE call aimed at Health Research Institutes (IIS). These grants make it possible to finance with 30 million euros the work that the Health Research Institutes carry out to enhance their scientific policy and lines of research over the next four years.
Complete resolution of the FORTALECE call for IIS
This investment makes it possible to promote, in addition to the global project of each Institute, six specific lines of the strategic plan in each of them, of which at least two are developed by emerging groups. Each of the 72 research groups involved in these grants will receive an average of 100.000 euros annually, over the next four years, to develop their main lines of work. The call also includes improvements aimed at simplifying the administrative and evaluation procedures, guaranteeing in all cases the quality in the monitoring and execution of the aid.
The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, has stated that this FORTALECE pilot program seeks to achieve financing of science with greater flexibility and less bureaucracy. It is planned that FORTALECE IIS will be an annual call, maintained over time as a line of continuous financing, which will allow that, after three years, all the IIS accredited by the ISCIII - currently 35 - have been able to receive the aid.
