1 February, 2021The Quirónsalud Zaragoza and Biotech Vision project, with the participation of the University of Zaragoza, has 10 units specialized in the main ocular pathologies, an experienced team of professionals and the latest technologies in the treatment of vision problems.
The Quirón Salud Ophthalmological Institute and Biotech Vision offer an innovative comprehensive treatment for patients with ocular pathologies, which includes from their entry into the medical center until the management of their process is completed. This is the first Ophthalmological Institute in Aragon launched by Quirónsalud Zaragoza, which contributes its experience and facilities, and the 'spin off' of the University of Zaragoza (Unizar) Biotech Vision, created by three teachers who have applied innovation in this healthcare area.
The rector of the University of Zaragoza, José Antonio Mayoral, highlighted this Wednesday at the inauguration that “the University of Zaragoza is decisively committed to research and enhances transfer to promote a knowledge society that respects the principles of equality, solidarity and sustainability." Mayoral added that "the transfer of knowledge is the mission of a socially committed University."
Along with the rector, the inauguration was attended by the managing director of Quirónsalud Zaragoza, Miguel Ángel Eguizábal, who pointed out that the Ophthalmological Institute “is launched with the intention of transferring the experience and quality in the care and service of the Quirónsalud hospital group in Aragón to one of the most in-demand and rapidly evolving areas, ophthalmology. And it will do so both in medical and healthcare aspects, as well as in terms of management and procedures, to offer better care to society."
The Quirónsalud Zaragoza-Biotech Vision Ophthalmological Institute is directed by doctors Luis E. Pablo, Vicente Polo and José Manuel Larrosa, professors at the University of Zaragoza, who have stressed the importance of having “the best team of professionals and the support from the University of Zaragoza, which places us at the forefront of innovation and ophthalmological research.”
The Quirónsalud Zaragoza Ophthalmological Institute carries out its activity at the Quirónsalud Day Hospital, with the aim of being a reference in the prevention and treatment of eye diseases in our community, incorporating new clinical-care and surgical alternatives to offer patients maximum improvements. in their vision and, therefore, in their quality of life. To do this, it has the experience of a large team of ophthalmologists and optometrists who make up the center.
Furthermore, in a pioneering way, the institute has an innovation unit dedicated to advising on the management of ophthalmological centers and two clinical and refractive optometry units, which work transversally with all the others,” says Dr. Luis E. Pablo. Júlvez.
For his part, Dr. Vicente Polo explains that “in a first visit we can learn in detail the problem for which the patient is seen and the rest of the patient's ocular condition, as well as minor problems that may coexist. The case is evaluated and the diagnostic strategy is established, determining the most appropriate unit to solve the problem presented by the patient. The coordinated work between all units and the specialization of each of them guarantees complete care for any pathology and at all ages."
