30 June, 2022- The selected lines of research, which will receive financial support of 3.000 euros each, belong to the fields of traumatology, gastroenterology, occupational therapy and nursing.
The Aragón Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón) supports four projects selected within the first edition of the Call for Research Promotion at the San Jorge de Huesca University Hospital, which aims to stimulate and make visible the research carried out in this center and establish synergies with the IIS Aragón groups. The studies, which will receive financial support of 3.000 euros each, correspond to the areas of traumatology, gastroenterology, occupational therapy and nursing, and will be carried out at the San Jorge Hospital and its health sector.
This action derives from the collaboration agreement signed between the San Jorge University Hospital and the IIS Aragón in 2021 with the purpose of energizing and supporting the development of research and innovation activity within the hospital. The four projects that will receive funding have been selected among the 14 proposals submitted to this call.
The 'Inmunocel' project, led by Miguel Montoro Huguet, seeks to know the true frequency of cases, with a certain and unequivocal diagnosis, of seronegative celiac disease among the population of adult patients who are referred to a specialized unit due to clinical suspicion of suffering from this disease. disease. Montoro's line of research, which belongs to the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Unit of the San Jorge Hospital, is based on the determination of the intraepithelial lymphogram by flow cytometry.
For her part, María Amparo Fontestad Utrillas, from the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service of the San Jorge Hospital, will address the 'Use of a radiopaque marker in surgery for trochanteric hip fracture'. Its objective is to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the radiopaque barium sulfate marker ROVI TAC 5 G/100 milliliters/oral suspension as an aid tool in trochanteric hip fracture surgery, in order to reduce radiation exposure in healthcare professionals and patients.
The third project selected is the one led by Raquel Castán Gasquet, occupational therapist at the San Jorge Hospital. This is a 'Clinical trial on the benefits of using night splints in patients with unoperated carpal tunnel' that aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of a postural splint for night use, made in the Rehabilitation Service and based on anthropometric measurements of each patient, for people affected by unoperated carpal tunnel.
Finally, Vanessa Rodríguez Campodarve, nurse supervisor of laboratories in the Health Sector of Huesca, will generate work groups made up of nursing personnel that produce and develop the means for the development of the profession in this health sector.
