The brain can reverse our morals
September 15, 2021The Aragón Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón) has received a donation of 10.000 euros from Bodegas Aragonesas, money raised from the sales of its came 'I will resist' and that will be allocated to the development of projects research related to SARS-COV-2 and COVID-19 disease. The president of the winery, Rubén Frago, and his manager, Enrique Chueca, presented the accreditation check in Fuendejalón to Ángel Lanas and Óscar López, scientific director and executive director of the IIS Aragón, respectively.
During the event, Ángel Lanas thanked the wine company for the gesture. “The money will be used to finance initiatives of interest with the capacity to provide knowledge and that we already have underway, such as evaluating the characteristics of the different waves and their impact on society, analyzing why some patients develop severe COVID and others do not, or seek solutions to the consequences of persistent COVID,” he explained.
For his part, Óscar López highlighted that public-private collaboration “is critical to supporting research.” “If we only rely on public financing, we will leave ourselves with a lot to do. We have to change the model and make companies and private entities more involved in the fact that collaboration is essential to develop research, and this is an example,” he added.
For Bodegas Aragonesas, 'I will resist' is not only a tribute to all those people who help every day to fight against COVID-19, but also an example of the commitment that the winery maintains with social development, said Enrique Chueca. “Since our beginnings we have collaborated with many causes because corporate social responsibility is in our company philosophy, and we will continue to do so, especially with those people who need us most,” he said.
