Augusts 2, 2023From July 28 to 31 it took place in the McGill University of Montreal (Canada) the first research meeting of the international Stroke-Poc project, funded in the ERANET Neuron call. The project seeks to analyze the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of puncture as a non-pharmacological alternative compared to the usual treatment of botulinum toxin infiltration for post-stroke spasticity.
The researcher and physiotherapist Pablo Herrero Gallego, from the IIS Aragon and the University of Zaragoza, trained the rest of the researchers from Canada and Belgium in the application of ultrasound-guided dry needling techniques for the treatment of spasticity.
Furthermore, the physiotherapist Clara Pujol, also a researcher at IIS Aragón, gave a practical session with the aim of standardize the ultrasound evaluation procedure and ensure reliability between measurements carried out in Spain, Belgium and Canada.
