The IIS Aragón organizes the 1st Aragonese Conference on Humanization in Head and Neck Cancer

The session, which will be held on June 25 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zaragoza, will address the diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive support of patients under the motto "Giving a voice to patients"

The Aragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragon) organizes the First Aragonese Conference on Humanization in Head and Neck Cancer, a meeting aimed at healthcare professionals, patients, associations and interested citizens that will be held next June 25, from 17:00 a.m. to 20:30 p.m., in the Main Hall of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of ZaragozaThe day will have a [modification/format]. face-to-face and online and free registration. 

under the motto “Giving a voice to patients”The session aims to create a space for reflection and dialogue on the comprehensive care of people with head and neck cancer, focusing not only on diagnosis and treatment, but also on subsequent support, functional recovery, psychosocial support and the active participation of the patient throughout the process.

The day will begin with the institutional opening, in which the following will participate: Cristina Sarasa, Director General of Care and Humanization of the Government of Aragon; Victoria Simón, from the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Miguel Servet University Hospital; José Miguel Sebastián, from the Otolaryngology Service of the Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital; and Julio Lambea, from the Medical Oncology Department of the Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital.

The program will be structured around two working groups. The first, entitled “Diagnosis and treatment”The conference will address the importance of knowing when to refer patients, recognizing warning signs, streamlining protocols, and understanding the latest therapeutic advances, as well as future perspectives in this field. Participants will include professionals from Primary Care, Radiation Oncology, Nursing, Oncology Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, and Psychology.

the second table, “After the storm”It will focus on addressing the needs that arise beyond the initial treatment, with special attention to recovery, follow-up, and the importance of incorporating the patient's experience into decision-making and the improvement of care processes.

In addition, the event will include a space dedicated to the patient associations, Involving ARALVOZ, ADPLA and Spanish Association Against Cancerthus reinforcing the role of the associative movement in accompanying, raising awareness and advocating for more humane and accessible care.

The closing ceremony will include the reading of conclusions and will feature the participation of Daniel Oros, scientific director of the IIS Aragón; Ana Cisneros, researcher of the “Humanization in Network” group at the Iberus Campus of the University of Zaragoza; and Luis Carmen, Deputy Director of Central Services at the Miguel Servet University Hospital.
