1 April 2025'The User's Voice' is a space that aims to propose improvement actions and incorporate humanization criteria into the center. The Outpatient Pharmacy Service was the focus of the first panel, held in collaboration with the IIS Aragón.
El Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital, in collaboration with the Health Research Institute of Aragon (IIS Aragon)), has launched the project 'The Voice of the User', a space for dialogue between the different actors of the public health system, in order to reflect on possible improvements and incorporate humanization criteria into the day-to-day running of the center.
The first session of the project was held this afternoon, focusing on outpatients in Hospital Pharmacy. The session featured the participation of the Director General of Care and Humanization, Estíbaliz Tolosa.
"We want to create a comfortable space where professionals, patients, associations, and family members can listen to each other on equal terms, identify weaknesses, and propose areas for improvement—small, concrete, and feasible actions that will improve a person's time at this hospital," explained Diego Rodríguez, medical director of the Hospital Clínico, who moderated this first panel.
Along with him, the following have participated, on behalf of the Pharmacy serviceTránsito Salvador, head of the Department, Mercedes Gimeno, head of the Outpatient and Ambulatory Pharmacy Section, Miriam Merchante, Oncohematology Pharmacist, and Teresa Barceló, Pharmacy Service Supervisor. The panel was completed by two Pharmacy Service users (María Pola and Ana Rita Salvador), the director of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Zaragoza, Patxi García Izuel, and the vice president of Acción Psoriasis, Montse Ginés.
During the session they addressed issues such as Role of the hospital pharmacist in the daily life of chronic patients, communication between users and staff, advantages of telemedicine in pharmaceutical care for outpatients, improvements in the spaces and organization of hospital pharmacies, and collaboration mechanisms among various associations.
“Humanizing healthcare means addressing the patient's well-being comprehensively.”"We must not only address the disease itself, but also the different aspects that influence the patient's life," said Dr. Rodríguez. "Among other things," he added, "this also involves facilitating the representation and participation of patient associations in the Hospital, promoting their shared responsibility within the Aragonese Health System, and driving a cultural shift toward an approach centered on patient well-being and experience."
'The voice of the user' has a planned quarterly frequency. Each edition will focus on a specific pathology through equal opportunity roundtable discussions bringing together associations, patients, hospital staff, and researchers. Three more roundtables are scheduled for the rest of the year: Oncology in June, Hematology in October, and a final roundtable at the end of the year to evaluate the initiative.
