El grupo 'Metabolism and cancer stem cells' of the Aragón Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón) has managed to raise 26.148 euros thanks to a donation campaign on Precipita, a crowdfunding platform created by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) to promote scientific research.
This amount will be used for his research project to search for new effective therapies that increase the life expectancy of patients with pancreatic cancer, since 90% of them die the year after being diagnosed, and focuses on the role that fat plays in the aggressiveness of tumors. The team, led by researcher Patricia Sancho, thanks all the patrons for their generosity and involvement with the cause.
The initiative has been active for three months and has had the support of different companies, institutions and individuals, such as the Tolosana bakery, Real Zaragoza, the Catalan Baseball and Softball Federation or the painter Carmen Pérez-Ramírez. In addition, 1.000 masks have been sold with the slogan 'I support cancer research', the proceeds of which have also been added to the campaign.
