This Sunday, February 11, we celebrate the International Day of Girls and Women in Science to make visible the work of women in this field and promote scientific culture among young women. In 2015, the United Nations decided that this day would be celebrated every year with the idea of achieve full and equitable access and participation of women and girls in the world of science and technology and in this way break the gender gap.
To add to the importance of reclaiming this day, el Aragonese Research Group in Primary Care (GAIAP) of the IIS Aragón is going to carry out informative activities in schools. Over the next week, researchers from the group will be in public schools in Utebo, conveying to the little ones the importance of science and the great work that women do in this field.
«From Primary Health Care, we encourage all health professionals, students and girls not to put up barriers and to value research and dedication to science, as one of their options in life. Our group is made up mainly of women, some of them very young, but all of them restless, with very clear ideas and the desire to contribute, through science, to building a healthier world," highlights Rosa Magallón, principal researcher of the GAIAP.
