Doctors study the relationship between coronavirus and pediatric shock in children
29 April 2020After the first three weeks, it is expected to know the population's immunity status. d-19 in Spain
This week the coronavirus seroprevalence study will begin and will reach a total of 1.728 homes throughout the Aragonese community. The intention of the Health Department, as detailed yesterday by the general director of Public Health Francisco Javier Falo, is to start "as quickly as possible." "It was planned to start today or tomorrow - yesterday and today - with a pilot experience to see how the websites where the data will be stored worked. The result will mark the start," he stressed.
This study will be done in eight weeks and will be divided into three phases, with a week of rest between each of them. In all three periods, family members will receive a questionnaire in which they will be asked about their symptoms and life situations. In addition, at a health center or hospital they will undergo a rapid test and a blood test.
The first cut, which will occur around the third week, will give an "assessment of the immune status of the population." This information, Falo stressed, will allow "guiding" the de-escalation measures that are being carried out. The other two periods aim to measure seroconversion, that is, the volume of the population that was immunized in the first sample and to check whether in the second or third "their immunological situation has changed."
According to the forecasts of the Government of Aragon, around 4.300 people will participate in this study. The director of Public Health pointed out that in the coming weeks other population strategies will be closed along with the rest of the communities.
