5 July 2026The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) has published the Public Innovation (I+P) 2026 calls, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the incorporation of scientific knowledge in the design, development and evaluation of public policies through two complementary instruments: R+P Projects and R+P Stays.
Both calls aim to strengthen collaboration between the scientific community and public administrations, promoting evidence-based decision-making and fostering knowledge transfer to the public sector.
Call for R&D Projects 2026
The R&D Projects call will finance research and innovation projects aimed at responding to specific challenges of public administrations through the generation and application of scientific knowledge.
The projects should generate evidence that contributes to improving the design, implementation and evaluation of public policies, promoting collaboration between researchers and public officials.
Application deadline: until 1 October 2026 (13:00 h, Spanish peninsular time)
Call for R&D Stays 2026
The R&D Stays call is aimed at research staff interested in carrying out temporary stays in bodies of the General State Administration and other public entities to contribute scientific knowledge to the resolution of challenges related to public policies.
These stays will strengthen the exchange of knowledge between the scientific field and the administration, facilitating the incorporation of scientific advice into public decision-making.
Application deadline: until October 8, 2026 (13:00h, Spanish peninsular time)

FECYT will organize several online information sessions to present the new features of both calls, explain the application process and answer questions from interested entities and research staff.
